Robert CHOURAQUI work
Robert Chouraqui is a french self-made photographer who came to photography
in the mid-70s in the psychedelic period by being involved in a leading
Light-show group in Europe, and from that universe he derived his taste
for strange atmospheres and his mastering of light and became the photographer
of the strange fashion. None of his vamps photos leaves us indifferent.
His MANGA PINUPS models seems to come out from a Comics and he captures
them in pictures which go all around the world. His Nude-portraits style
concentrates on the intimacy of the face rather than the anonymous body.
These dressed-nudes affiliate him more to the fashion photographers
than the nudes ones. Beautiful amazons stare at his camera like if a
part of their mind was being stolen and they let themselves be photographed
in a mixture of challenge and surrender. Robert Chouraqui's work has
been published in many a magazine around the world and has been edited
in ten art books now sold out and collectors items. Through archival
or Lith printing and polaroïd transfers or photoshop wizardry, his techniques
all aim at highlighting the living presence of these women in a magic
and nearly disrupting way.His personal site is showing more his stange

autodidacte est le photographe de la mode étrange. Ses Pinups MANGA
proches des héroînes de la BD sont des femmes venus du monde entier
et il les capture dans des images qui font le tour du monde. Ces nus-habillés
situent plus Chouraqui dans la filiation des photographes de mode que
dans la veine des photos de nu. Ces jolies amazones fixent l'objectif
comme s'il allait leur voler leur âme et elles se laissent photographier
dans un mélange de défi et d'abandon. Le travail de Robert Chouraqui,
très reconnaissable, a été diffusé par de très nombreux magazines et
a été publié dans une dizaine de livres d'art devenus rapidement collector.
